Offrir une parure de lit personnalisée pour des jumeaux en cadeau de naissance est un petit défi car il faut concevoir une version fille et une version garçon assorties. Les bébés partagent bien souvent la même chambre et le même lit dans les premiers mois. |
A birth gift for twins girl and boy, two bedding sets. Happy parents, a girl, a boy… at the same time! Première étape : concevoir le projet - trouver un point commun aux deux parures.Ceci permettra de les assortir tout en les différenciant. Évidemment cela passe par le choix des coloris. J'ai donc sélectionné l'imprimé Betsy, couleur Porcelaine, de Liberty London. Des teintes claires, poudrées, où le gris et le bleu dominent le rose. Il se conjugue aussi bien au féminin qu'au masculin. La tendance aujourd'hui autorise les imprimés fleuris pour les petits garçons. L'imprimé Betsy donnant le ton, il s'agit ensuite de décliner une version garçon bleu/gris et une version fille rose en y associant d'autres étoffes unies dans ces coloris. Quant aux matières, nous sommes au printemps, dans quelques semaines ce sera l'été. J'ai donc privilégié des tissus légers mais douillets. Pour le dessus des petites couvertures, l'imprimé Liberty London est une batiste de coton "tana lawn", légère et tissée très serrée, aussi fine que de la soie. Et pour mettre en valeur ce bel imprimé, j'ai choisi d'y associer un lin blanc, toujours apprécié en été. Pour l'envers des petites couvertures, j'ai remplacé le molleton intérieur par un tissu "minky" à poils courts, très doux, spécial bébés. Par chance, il existe en bleu/gris et aussi en rose qui se marient parfaitement à l'imprimé Betsy Procelaine. |
First step: design the project - find a common feature between the two sets.This will make it possible to match them while differentiating them. Of course, this depends on the choice of colors. Therefore, I selected the Betsy print, Porcelain color, from Liberty London. Light, powdery shades, where gray and blue dominate pink. It combines both feminine and masculine. The trend today allows floral prints for little boys. The Betsy print setting the tone, it is then a question of declining a blue/grey boy's version and a pink girl's version by associating other plain fabrics in these colors. As for materials, we are in spring, in a few weeks it will be summer. So I favored light but cozy fabrics. For the top of the small blankets, the Liberty London print is a "tana lawn" cotton batiste, light and very tightly woven, as fine as silk. And to highlight this beautiful print, I chose to associate it with a white linen, always appreciated in summer. For the back of the small blankets, I replaced the inner fleece with a very soft, short-haired "minky" fabric, special for babies. Luckily, it exists in blue/grey and also in pink which goes perfectly with the Betsy Procelain print. |

Une petite contrariété à signaler : j'ai acheté les deux tissus chez Mxxx Txxx. Si l'imprimé Liberty London n'a pas posé de problème, il en fut autrement pour le tissu Minky, coupé tellement de travers qu'au final il manquait 13 cm sur le mètre acheté et payé, comme le montrent les photos ci-dessous prises dans mon atelier. J'ai dû réviser en conséquence la conception initiale de mon projet. Il n'est pas concevable qu'une enseigne de cette importance ne dispose pas d'un espace et d'outils dédiés à la coupe, c’est-à-dire au moins un tapis de découpe quadrillé, une longue règle, et un cutter rotatif. Un très mauvais point pour Mxxx Txxx. |
A small annoyance to report: I bought the two fabrics at Mxxx Txxx. If the Liberty London print was not a problem, it was different for the Minky fabric, cut so crooked that in the end 13 cm was missing on the meter purchased and paid for, as shown in the photos below taken in my studio. Placés tout en haut des couvertures, deux drôles de petits chiots brodés en appliqué ont l'air de sortir de leur cachette pour dire bonjour aux bébés. Les motifs de broderie numérisés, achetés sur Internet dans le style "Face Peeker", font partie d'un set de broderies comprenant plusieurs dessins : chiots, lapins, poussins, oursons… Je l'ai déjà utilisé pour le tour de lit de la parure "Comme un livre d'image". Ils surmontent une bande d'imprimé Liberty/Betsy. |
Placed at the very top of the covers, two funny little puppies embroidered in appliqué seem to come out of their hiding place to say hello to the babies. Troisième étape : doubler simplement les petites couvertures.Comme je l'ai dit plus haut, je n'ai pas prévu de molleton, trop chaud pour l'été. J'ai directement doublé le top des petites couvertures avec un tissu "minky", léger et douillet. |

Quatrième étape : réaliser les tours de lits.Le lit des bébés est composé de deux lits accolés. Ces deux lits seront séparés lorsque les enfants grandiront. Pour tenir compte de cette particularité j'ai pensais que deux tours de lit modulables seraient appropriés. Ils sont donc composés de six coussins qu'il est possible de relier par des rubans. Pour un lit, en panneau central, un long coussin de la largeur du matelas, et deux petits coussins à attacher sur les côtés. |

Un fin ruban de velours de 3 mm permet d'attacher ensemble les coussins autour du lit. J'utilise la colle spéciale textile pour fixer le ruban avant de le coudre. Sa couleur fluo s'efface après quelques instants. |
A thin 3 mm velvet ribbon is used to tie the cushions together around the bed. I use the special textile glue to fix the ribbon before sewing it. Its fluorescent color fades after a few moments. |
